How to Dress for Success (i.e. Dress Code)

Dressing in appropriate attire helps students improve focus and get the most out of their lessons. Jeans, jean shorts, play clothes, or school clothes are not suitable dance attire. Jewelry and costumes can be a distraction and safety hazard and are not allowed in class. Gum is also not allowed in the studio.

Please change into dance shoes once you arrive at the studio. Street shoes are not permitted in the studio. Do not wear dance shoes outside. We suggest dancers wear cover up clothing when outside the studio to help protect dance attire. Below are additional guidelines for each program…

Hair

Hair for all dancers should be secured out of their face. Female ballet dancers should wear their hair in a bun.

Boys

Boys should wear plain dark colored shorts or snug fitting pants with white t-shirts unless otherwise noted. Shoe guidelines are defined in each program. Any color t-shirt is acceptable for styles other than ballet. A dance belt is recommended for teenage male dancers.
