Dress Code

Students at Neighborhood Dance have a uniform dress code. Wearing the appropriate attire helps students improve their focus and performance in class, and helps teachers assess and correct for proper body placement. It also encourages unity among students, and reinforces a positive learning environment.

Uniform footwear will be required for each class. The footwear style and selection will be provided during the first month of classes.

General Guidelines

Hair for all dancers should be secured and out of their face. Female ballet dancers should wear their hair in a bun.

Street clothes such as jeans, jean shorts, play clothes, or school clothes are not suitable dance attire. Each class has a set uniform, or dress code, that can purchased through the studio after registration.

Street shoes are not permitted in the studio, since they can cause extra wear and tear to the specialty dance floor material. Please change into the appropriate shoes that have been defined for each class once you arrive. In turn, we recommend that shoes worn in the studio are not worn outside to help extend the life of the shoes.

Jewelry and costumes can be a distraction and safety hazard and are not allowed in class, unless specifically noted in the class description.

Gum is not allowed in the studio.

Cover up clothing is recommended when wearing tights and leotards outside the studio to help protect and extend the life of this dance attire.
